We investigate the mechanisms by which the disruption of the circadian rhythm induces obesity and related diseases. We have found that BMAL1, a core transcriptional factor in biological clock system, regulates energy metabolism in a tissue dependent manner, and the dysfunction of BMAL1 induces various disorders such as hyperlipidemia, diabetes, lack of long-term memory etc. These data may provide novel information on chronotherapy.
