International Exchange Program 2017
Study Abroad in the UK
For the second year in a row, students from the School of Pharmacy, Nihon University (NUSP) have traveled to the School of Pharmacy at the University of Portsmouth (UoP) to study about clinical pharmacy practice and education in the United Kingdom. This year 12 students participated in the program that went from August 14th until the 28th. In addition to learning about clinical pharmacy practice and education in the UK, students also had the special opportunity to visit the headquarters of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in London for a special seminar and tour of their museum.
This year we also incorporated English language studies into the curriculum before students started attending morning lectures and afternoon visits to community pharmacies, hospitals, and drugstores to accomplish various tasks. For the second straight year, the faculty of UoP took a hands-on approach to educating the NUSP students and activities incorporated various technologies (iPads, avatars, robot simulated patients, etc….).
In addition to their clinical pharmacy studies, students were also able to experience the culture and sights of England including a brief trip to London, a day on the Isle of Wight, and a day trip in the countryside to Leeds Castle. During this whole time, NUSP students were able to interact with students from UoP and it was a great opportunity for students to make friendships and connections that may help them in their future careers as pharmacists.
